BlueNote Communicator – Messaging software for your dental practice -

Q. I just added a new computer in my office. How do I load BlueNote on it?

You can download the latest version of the BlueNote endpoint by clicking here. If you are running an older 1.x or 2.x version of BlueNote you can download discontinued clients by clicking here.

Q. Why does my Endpoint say “Requesting System Manager Information”?

You may have a firewall or antivirus software that is blocking access. The solution is to be sure to allow access when any firewall alerts pop up. Also, make sure that the System Manager is online.

Q. I am no longer receiving any Popup Alerts or Tones at my computer.

Check your DND “Do Not Disturb” button and make sure it is turned off and not orange.

Q. I am running version 1.x or 2.x of BlueNote, is there a charge to upgrade to version 4?

No. All customers running version 1.x or 2.x are allowed to upgrade to the current version free of charge. However if you are not under a current maintenance contract and require support there will be a per incident fee unless you purchase an extended year maintenance contract.

Q. How do I turn off BlueNote Communicator?

It is recommended to keep BlueNote running whenever your network is online; however, if you do need to shut down the program you can do so from the endpoint Menu.

Q. I am getting a Runtime error 339 when trying to start BlueNote

One of the files that is required to run BlueNote has been damaged or removed. You will need to run the installer again and choose the repair option when prompted. You can also remove BlueNote from you computer using add/remove programs in the control panel and then reinstall the software. New versions can be downloaded here.

Q. I have programmed the Mobile Devices Gateway and I am not receiving a text message.

The Mobile Devices Gateway sends an email to your cell phone providers email to sms gateway. Since this message is sent as an email the most common problem is that your ISP (internet service provider) has blocked the transmission of this email. The BlueNote System Manager sends the email using tcp/ip port 25. Some service providers block this port in an effort to try and control spam. You should try calling your ISP and request that they unblock port 25. If you feel like this is not the problem you can contact our support team for more information and troubleshooting tips on this feature.

Q. BlueNote will not startup on Windows Vista or Windows 7

Windows Vista introduced a new security feature called UAC. This new security option prevents software such as BlueNote from writing to certain locations on your computer. We have built in an automatic diagnostic system in both the System Manager and Endpoint to correct many types of problems. In order to allow BlueNote to correct the problem simply right click on the BlueNote icon on your desktop and choose “Run as Administrator”. BlueNote will only run as an administrator this one time in order to try and correct the problem.
